Oliver is Walking!

Taking a breather!

Look at me, mom!!!

This is way too much fun!

Sleeping on daddy after an exhausting day of walking!

Oliver took his very first couple of steps on the Monday before his birthday, but he decided to really make his walking debut on his birthday by setting a new record...five to seven steps in a row! He was so proud of himself as you can tell by the pictures. He smiled from ear to ear and couldn't stop laughing. Most of the time he was laughing so hard that he'd make himself fall! He is getting really confident now and is able to walk from the living room into the bathroom without falling. It is so fun to watch him learn and develop. Berkeley even gets excited for him. She gets a big smile on her face and says, "Look mom, Bean's walking!" She was telling Grandma all about his walking abilities on the phone the other day too. She is a very proud big sister.

Oliver turned 1 on Saturday and as you can probably guess, we had a monkey themed party for him! He is getting 2 more bottom teeth and he was sleeping when everyone came, so when he woke up to a house full of guests he was a little overwhelmed and a bit grouchy! He did pretty good opening up presents and he got lots of fun stuff!! It's nice to have some toys that "belong" to him and aren't pink and frilly! I think he really appreciates that :) He and my dad share the same birthday. My dad turned 65 and he enjoyed sharing his special day with his first grandson.
My husband was a huge help to me, as usual. I goofed and ordered sprinkles on the cupcakes thinking they would be chocolate sprinkles, but when I picked them up they were "multi-colored" sprinkles and looked terrible. Thomas offered to pluck all the sprinkles off except for the blue & yellow ones. I know I poke fun at us and our relationship a lot, but I really do have the absolute BEST husband ever! I love how detail oriented he is and I love that he appreciates that the smallest details are oftentimes the most important ones.
I took him to the Dr. for his one year check up and he weighs 19 lbs 5 oz and is 29.5 inches tall. He is in the 50th percentile for height, but only the 10th percentile for weight. He is a bit of a squirt, but it's nice to carry a little "squirt" around all day. I don't think my back can handle much more than that!
I can't believe he is a year old already. It seriously seems like just yesterday we brought him home from the hospital. In some ways this year has dragged by, but to think that my "baby" isn't a baby anymore is crazy to me. He has been such a blessing to our family. I am in love with his sweetness and I hope he never loses that. He just makes me smile every time I look at him. We love you SOOOOOOOO much baby Oliver and look forward to many more birthdays to celebrate with you!
