Oliver informed me the Nerf Gun from Cohen was his "very bestest present"

Blowing out the candles with Papa...Happy 68th Birthday Dad!

Trying out his new soccer ball and goal from his cousins...gotta get some practice in before Pee Wee Soccer starts in a week!

He finally got a spider man costume...he has been asking for one since last Halloween! He was so excited!!!

Fin slept throught almost the entire party and then joined dad for a breather on the porch after all the action ended!

We celebrated Oliver's 4th birthday last Saturday (his birthday was officially yesterday) and had a gorgeous day. The kids played in the water and took a boat ride. This was the first year I bought all of the invites/decorations/party bags instead of making them and boy was it easy. I don't know what I have been thinking for the past (almost) 6 years. It was the easiest, cheesiest birthday party I have ever done! He loved it though! It really was a perfect day. We had a huge turnout. I tend to "over invite" for his bday because people are generally out of town for one last vacation during the last week of summer. Only 2 families couldn't make it this time.

He got some awesome "boy" presents. His favorite was the nerf gun from Cohen and he also loves all the machines that he got. Each machine came with a dark haired guy and a red haired guy so he has a "Daddy & Mr. Scotty" to play with all day long! How perfect! He finally got a spider man costume that he has been asking my mom for for about 10 months now. I was excited about it until my sister said "Oh, that will be so cute when he wears it every day to school and it will look extra cute in your family Christmas picture." My heart sank at the thought of it, but it's just a phase, right? I can hope so anyway :)

It really was a fun party and a perfect day. It was fun watching the kids get wet. Papa Potts was a great sport and let them dump buckets of water on his head for a good hour. I can't believe my baby boy is 4. I can't believe the next 12 months will fly by and we'll be celebrating his 5th. We have lots of changes coming to our house this fall and this year promises to go even faster than the last 4. I'm not sure if I'm prepared for another one to slide past.

My little poser

A few weekends ago we went to Ocean Shores with my family. When we woke up on Saturday morning the weather was horrendous. Raining and windy and just plain nasty. We were thinking that if it was that nasty here, it would be even worse there, but we didn't want to be party poopers and the kids were super excited so we decided to be good sports and do it anyway. It turned out to be a good call because it was a gorgeous day at the beach. About an hour after we arrived, the clouds parted and the sun made it's glorious debut. The kids played in the sand all day. Tom, Oliver, Chris & Cohen were the only ones brave enough to stick their feet in the water. We made brats and burgers on a little grill and had yummy salads, chips and treats. By the time we packed up to leave everyone was sunburned, windburned and ready for a shower and a soft bed to lay down on. It was a really fun day and another great memory. Oliver asked me the next day if the beach was only open on Sundays? I said no, the beach is open every single day. He thought that was pretty cool and has mentioned a couple of times since then that the beach is open every day (unlike the fair or the pumpkin patch that is only open a few weeks a year and then you have to wait till next year to go again). We will definitely be doing it again next year.
