The C-Section

I thought he made scrubs look sexy :)Scared to death, but smiling

Out he came!

Welcome to the world!

The golf club/clamps they used to hold me open! How disgusting is that!

Really, really gross!

Proud parents!

So relieved to have that behind us!

Berkeley "honked" his nose about 25 times when she first met him

Uncle Chris showing his softer side :)

My boys
Here are some pictures of the big day. I was terrified to have them cut me open and actually started crying, which is rare for me since I am not much of a crier, but it all went smoothly and I am so glad to have it over with. I think I prefer having babies vaginally as the recovery doesn't seem quite as extensive and it just seems so much more natural. Although, my first delivery was pretty rough too since my "lady friend" was completely cut in order to get Berkeley out. That was not a real pleasant recovery either. There are definitely pros and cons to both. My Dr. said if I have another baby there is no reason why I can't try to have it vaginally since I have had one successful delivery and the c-section was done solely because of positioning. That is why I love my Dr. I know many would say I would have to have all c-sections from here on out.
Thomas was a trooper. He said the only part that bothered him was when he saw the clamps they used to hold me open. None of the other stuff seemed to bug him. He did say that this birth was a little anti-climactic since they cut me open at 8:08 and Oliver was out by 8:10. I think with a normal labor you have 8-15 hours of excitement/anticipation and this just seemed a little less exciting and way more nerve racking.
We are so happy to have Oliver home and he is still so great. We almost don't feel like we have a baby in the house. He is a sleeper and the last 2 nights we have had to wake him up to eat. He is only getting up once a night and that is because we are making him! Hopefully he will keep these sleeping habits up!
Berkeley is warming up to him. When she first met him she didn't want to touch him except to 'honk' his nose about 25 times. I don't think she really knew what else to do with him. She now at least kisses him and tries to clean out his toes (cleaning out her toes is her new fascination). She does get upset when I breast feed and if I pump a bottle for him she will occassionally steal it and drink it. I figure it's not going to hurt her and if she thinks he has special milk and a special cup and wants to drink out of it, then I'm not going to freak out about it. Everyone has been wonderful about keeping her busy. She has barely been home. She has gone to the park almost every day and today Thomas' office shut down so they could take her to the fair! That is a first for that office, let me tell you :)
Well, I must go. I'm not sure how much of a priority this blogging thing will be in the next couple of months, but I will try my best. Hope you all are doing well and thank you again for all of your prayers, meals and help. We REALLY appreciate it.

Oh my Lis!! Some of those pics are graphic! When I was little I wanted to be a doctor! Glad I didn't take that route, cause not so sure my stomach could handle that on a regular basis! :) Oliver sure is precious though! And I still love Berkeley! We had a blast at the fair today!!

I'm glad I am sitting down while looking at these pictures, I would have passed out for sure if I would have been in the room with you. He is worth everything you went through, he is so sweet. I'm so impressed by your recovery too. You always make this stuff look easy!!!!

Sounds like you and baby and family are doing great! I'm so happy you have a sleeper! I showed Gavin the pictures and he was pretty fascinated. (I haven't had to tell him about the "other" way that babies come out of tummies, yet! Thanks to you and Kim! Ha!)

He is so very beautiful! I am glad to hear that you and Oliver are doing well. Tell your husband that he is much braver than mine, Jeff wouldn't look over the curtain. I hope recovery continues to go smoothly and quickly. Bless you all!

How did men get golfclubs in the delivery room? Was that Thomas' request, "May the first thing my son sees be a golfclub, Amen".
